CACREPThe Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) is the premier national accreditation agency for graduate programs in the counseling field:

  • It is the recognized training standard for counselors by the Institute of Medicine and the Veteran’s Administration.
  • It promotes counselor professional identity.
  • Its curricula content areas are the required academic training for counselor licensure in most states making CACREP-accreditation a pathway to portability.
  • Recognized and attained by approximately 600 programs in the North American continent (http://www.cacrep.org/ , Chairman’s Message)

With CACREP accreditation, UW-Stout’s MS School Counseling Program has been recognized by CACREP’s peer evaluators for excellence.  The program’s rigorous curriculum complies with national standards for comprehensive instruction and professional practice.  More information about CACREP can be found at http://www.cacrep.org/ .
