Barb Miller grew up in the Stockbridge Munsee tribal community and is a member of the Mohican Nation. Miller earned her bachelor and master’s degree at UW-Stout and feels a great sense of responsibility to enhance educational experiences for under-represented minority students. Miller believes overcoming adversity can be an asset for success. Miller worked 15 years at two UW Schools before returning to UW Stout in 2010. She is proud of the increase in minority student enrollment with a 44% increase of Asian, Black, Native and Latino students graduating from Stout since 2010-11. Miller credits the intercultural development framework for changing her personal and professional life and constantly reflects about intercultural relationships and goals to support individuals and groups to elevate effectiveness. She provides leadership to many individuals and programs with a sense of responsibility to pay forward what so many have invested in her. Miller also serves as the advisor to the Native American Student Organization.

Miller is grateful for the unique majors available at Stout with a 98% employment (or continuing education) rate and is motivated by student’s lives transformed through education.
