UW-Stout is focused on student success and excited to share our unique learning experience with prospective students. We are pleased to announce that we have decided to waive our application fee through the 2022-23 academic year. The last term that the application fee will be waived is spring 2023.
UW-Stout will accept unofficial transcripts for admission consideration. A final official transcript with a graduation date is required prior to enrollment.
Our temporary test optional policy means applicants will choose whether or not to submit standardized test scores, such as the ACT or SAT, as part of their admission application. The last term that students can opt out of submitting an ACT/SAT test score is spring 2025.
Test optional is open to students who do not wish to share their scores and to students who were not able to take an exam on the scheduled testing dates. Although we are test optional, we encourage students who have been able to take the ACT or SAT to submit their scores.
Applicants choosing to not submit standardized tests will not be at a disadvantage nor will it negatively impact their application review.
UW-Stout does not have a confirmation date or enrollment deposit.
No applicant to UW-Stout will be penalized if schools elect to implement a pass/fail grading structure due to the COVID-19 disruption. Our hope is that students will continue their coursework, in whatever delivery method is offered, to best prepare for academic success at Stout.
While providing letter grades would be helpful and demonstrate performance, we recognize this may not be possible. In addition, we understand that online learning for students and teachers is very different than what they experience in the traditional classroom. Online learning may present challenges to students such as lack of access to technology, family responsibilities, and other distractions. In times like these, teacher comments and letters of recommendation may be necessary to explain the student’s performance and their unique student situation.
UW-Stout requires official college transcripts to be sent directly from each institution or through an electronic secure document sending service.
Most institutions are able to send transcripts during the COVID-19 pandemic. If your college or university is unable to provide a transcript due to COVID-19, contact the UW-Stout Admissions Office at admissions@uwstout.edu.
University Housing has developed their own COVID-19 updates. You can find them here.
University Dining has developed their own COVID-19 updates. You can find them here.

UW-Stout is focused on student success and excited to share our unique learning experience with prospective students. We are pleased to announce that we have decided to waive our application fee through December 2022.
UW-Stout requires official college transcripts to be sent directly from each institution. Many now offer transcripts be sent through an electronic secure document sending service. Choose the transcript be sent directly to UW-Stout.
Most Institutions are able to send transcripts during the COVID-19 pandemic. If your college or university is unable to provide a transcript due to COVID-19, contact the UW-Stout Transfer Admissions Team at transfer@uwstout.edu.
No applicant to UW-Stout will be penalized if schools elect to implement a pass/fail (or credit/no credit) grading structure due to COVID-19. Please note that if your college has also added a Low Pass (LP) or similar grade, this course will still transfer, but will not meet the equivalency of a major studies course that requires a grade of C or higher. Transcripts will be reviewed and grades considered on a case-by-case basis. If there are any specific circumstances you would like us to be aware of, contact us at transfer@uwstout.edu.
UW-Stout will offer summer 2021 courses online. Visit the Summer & Winterm website for more information.

We are very hopeful that international students will be able to get their visas and attend classes at UW-Stout this fall. We are actively planning for their arrival and working with admitted students to place them in on-campus housing and enroll them in classes.
