Chela is the Research Program Coordinator at UW-Stout’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP). She supports student research and creative activity by facilitating a research and dissemination grant program, organizing attendance of state and national events like the National Conference on Undergraduate Research, Research in the Rotunda, Quick Pitch and Spark Symposium, and coordinating ORSP’s signature campus event - Research Day. Chela also supports faculty and staff professional development and recognition by coordinating three internal grant programs and the annual Outstanding Researcher awards. In addition, she mentors the student Research, Innovation and Creative Activity club.
Chela is a recipient of the 2024 Chancellor's Academic Staff Award for Excellence. She holds a Master of Arts degree from Ohio University in International Affairs and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in Biology and Humanistic Studies. She is fluent in Spanish and loves travel, having lived in 7 countries and visited over 60.
