Quinn DonelanThe Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation is a nonprofit, industry-directed organization that provides technical school, undergraduate and graduate fellowship assistance to men and women interested in a career in graphic communications.

The PGSF Scholarship Selection Committee comprises college educators and industry leaders experienced in interpreting test scores, school records and other pertinent information. Candidates are judged based on their academic records; recommendations offered from instructors, advisers and employers; biographical records, which indicate academic honors; and extracurricular interests, etc.

Donelan said she was honored to receive the scholarship. “This scholarship means that all my hard work and effort I have put into my education is being acknowledged,” Donelan said. “It's very humbling to get such a great scholarship and knowing I have such a strong backing in my future endeavors.”

Earlier this year six UW-Stout students received $2,000 each from the national Specialty Graphic Imaging Association. Go here for that story.

Graphic communications is used to communicate ideas, concepts, messages and instruction. The program, with a 99 percent employment rate for recent graduates, is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Collegiate Graphic Communications, an independent body of industry and education professionals. UW-Stout is the only such accredited program in Wisconsin, and there are only 12 in the U.S.

UW-Stout scholarships

In response to the increasing demand for students and graduates of the
graphic communications program, Stout University Foundation is collaborating with industry partners to create scholarships for incoming first-year students. The scholarships may be annual (limited-time) or endowed (perpetual) and can be customized to match the donor’s priorities.

Scholarships begin at $1,000 a year and can be awarded in addition to other scholarships for which the student may qualify, such as the Blue Devil Guarantee.

Scholarships can complement a business’ recruitment strategies or an alumni’s dedication to supporting graphics education. Upon notification of the award, students send a personalized acknowledgment to the donor. The donor also presents the award at the Scholarship Reception each September. To learn more about creating a scholarship, contact Michelle Dingwall, 715-232-5546.

UW-Stout is Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University, with a focus on applied learning, collaboration with business and industry, and career outcomes.
