Hello from UW-Stout's Financial Aid Office. We’re glad to have your student join our campus community. We know there’s a lot to think about and financial aid may be at the top of your list now, and every semester from here to the time your student graduates.

We know financial aid can be confusing. We’re here to help you sort it out. We are open Monday through Friday 8-4:30 p.m. Please stop in with any questions you and your student have!

For now, here are a few things we thought you might note down.

Emails and To-Do List

Please be sure your student is reading their UW-Stout email as soon as they receive their log-in information. Young adults don’t prefer to use email, but it is a quick way for us to communicate financial aid information with them. We don’t use paper very much.

Students can check Self-Service on Access Stout to determine if they have anything on their “To Do” list. Using Self-Service can save them time. They can find financial aid and billing information here, among other things.

Punctuality and Timing

Please provide your student’s documents and information as soon as possible after our request. If you wait until August to get information to us, you run the risk of not receiving financial aid on time.

Financial aid applies to your student’s bill the second week of each semester. Refunding is after the disbursement and not the same day as the aid applying to the bill.

Important deadlines and applications are listed on our Financial Aid page.

Remember we’re here to help. Stop in our office or email us at finaid1@uwstout.edu.
