We're so excited to welcome you to the Stout community. Here, you're not only a student but also a member of our vibrant campus culture. If we haven't already, we can't wait to meet you in person!

Until then, there are a few things left for you to do.

New First-Year Students

For first-time incoming students coming to UW-Stout, read on:

Set up your UW-Stout email account, you will need your Campus ID for this which can be found in the initial email/letter sent to you after submitting your application.

After setting up your UW-Stout email account, University Housing will send you an email and mail you a Life@Stout booklet. Follow the online process to sign your contact and pay your $125 housing prepayment fee to hold your residence hall space. Room selection times are based on the date you sign your contract and pay your prepayment. The earlier you sign, the earlier your room selection time will be. Questions? Beginning October 1

2023-2024 FAFSA: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using FAFSA School Code: 003915

Please note: The 2024-2025 FAFSA  will not be available until early December 2023 due to a FAFSA redesign.   

Mid-October

Stout University Foundation Scholarship Application is available online.

October - November Visit us during Daily Admissions Visits, Campus Preview Days or Stout Saturdays!
First Monday in February

Scholarship deadline for Stout University Foundation scholarships.

Priority deadline for Blue Devil First-Year Student Scholarship (must be admitted and have a FAFSA on file). 

February 15 Priority deadline for FAFSA to be eligible for financial need-based scholarships through the Stout Foundation Scholarship Application.
March

Check your UW-Stout email for Registration and Orientation information. Sign up for your date!

Check your UW-Stout email for your Housing roommate questionnaire, room preferences, and University Dining Plan selection information. Please follow the directions sent from University Housing to complete this through the Housing Gateway.

Registration for online UW Placement Testing opens (For Fall 2023: testing registration will open March 15, 2023). Complete testing at least one week prior to your First-Year Registration & Orientation date.

Minnesota Residents: register for reciprocity

June

Attend your virtual First-Year Registration and Orientation date that you registered for!

Check your UW-Stout email for room selection directions, and how to review your roommate information and residence hall assignment. Please follow directions sent by University Housing to know your room selection date/time and steps to choose and review your room selection.

Sign the Student Account Contract.

Be sure to request final high school transcripts showing your graduation date, and have college/university transcripts sent to the UW-Stout Admissions Office.

Late July Check your UW-Stout email for directions from University Housing on how to set-up your move-in process.
August

Set up your move-in process. You'll select a date and time during move-in week to move into your residence hall and set-up your room.

If taking out student loan(s), sign Master Promissory Notes (MPN) online prior to beginning classes (Access Stout).

Mid-August View your tuition bill in Access Stout (you will receive email notification to your UW-Stout email when your tuition bill is ready to view). View tuition due dates and authorize a parent or guest user on your account.
Late August

Move into your residence hall on the day/time you signed up for. You can stay on-campus after your move-in time or leave and return for orientation.

  • Fall 2023 Move-in Week: August 26 - September 3
First week of September Move in to your residence hall, make friends, and have a blast during Welcome Week!
Wednesday after Labor Day

Classes begin!

  • Fall 2023: Wednesday, September 6, 2023

October You will receive a Life at Stout booklet in the mail that will include Housing directions. Follow the online process to sign your contract and pay your $125 housing pre-payment fee to hold your residence hall space. Students who sign up before March 1st will receive priority room selection! Mid-October Stout University Foundation Scholarship Application is available online.

February 15 If you applied for Stout University Foundation Scholarships: Priority deadline for FAFSA to be eligible for financial need-based scholarships.
March 1 Portfolio due by midnight for all Art & Design BFA programs.  Check your acceptance letter for information on how to contact the office of Art & Design for further information on submitting your portfolio and essay.
Beginning in March Receive Registration information, including how to complete your Student Account Contract.
March If you signed a Housing contract: Receive your Housing roommate questionnaire, room preferences, and University Dining Plan selection information.  Please follow the directions sent from University Housing to complete this through the Housing Gateway. Check your UW-Stout email for this! 
March 15 Priority deadline for FAFSA. Meet this date to ensure your financial aid is ready in the fall.
Beginning April  Minnesota residents register for reciprocity. Registration is available online.
Beginning Mid-April Register for classes online.
Second Monday in June Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship application due.
Second Monday in June Final college transcripts due to the Admissions Office to be considered for the Transfer Student Scholarship.
mid-late June Financial aid award letters posted to Access Stout.
June If you signed a Housing contract: Check your UW-Stout email for your room selection directions, and how to review your roommate information, residence hall assignment, and move-in guide.  Please follow directions sent by University Housing to learn your room selection day/time and steps to choose and review your room selection.
July Parking permit registration begins. Registration available online.
Mid-August View your fall semester billing information in Access Stout (You will receive notification to your UW-Stout email when your tuition bill is ready to view).  View tuition due dates and authorize a parent or guest user on your account.
August If you signed a Housing contract: Check your UW-Stout email for move-in instructions from University Housing.
August If taking out student loan(s), sign Master Promissory Notes (MPN) online prior to beginning classes (Access Stout).
Last Monday in August Deadline to submit your official final college transcripts showing Spring 2020 grades from your prior school to the Admissions Office.
First week of September Move into your residence hall or house/apartment, make friends, and have a blast during Welcome Week!
Wednesday after Labor Day Classes begin!

Deadline to submit your official final college transcripts showing fall semester grades from your prior school to the Admissions Office.
