G.A. Taft Manufacturing Engineering Professorship
The G.A. Taft Manufacturing Engineering Endowed Professorship is designed to allow UW-Stout to attract and retain high-quality engineering faculty, as well as to provide significant leverage for the recipient to seek additional matching funds, grants, industry contracts, and recognitions.
The individual chosen for the professorship will provide impetus for continued success of the manufacturing engineering program, will be knowledgeable in production systems and techniques, and further develop the manufacturing engineering curriculum, drawing upon opportunities presented by partnerships in industry and higher education. Example areas of current importance include the continuous improvement process for accreditation, remote programs, professional development related to manufacturing engineering, support of research and dissemination of results in manufacturing engineering, and establishment of new transfer agreements.
The professorship is for a three-year term, currently providing approximately $8,000 per year, according to endowment balance.
Fulton and Edna Holtby Manufacturing Engineering Chair
The Fulton and Edna Holtby Endowed Manufacturing Engineering Chair will be awarded to a member of the faculty in recognition of outstanding ability and promise. This award will provide support for the recipient’s professional activities. Faculty from the manufacturing engineering program, and faculty from related fields who are participating in the manufacturing engineering program, are eligible. In addition, industry leaders from manufacturing engineering may receive the professorship in conjunction with a university teaching or research appointment.
The person awarded the Fulton and Edna Holtby Endowed Manufacturing Engineering Chair shall carry the title for three years, but consecutive appointments may be considered. The funds will be used for activities related to the purpose of this Chair, including research, purchase of equipment, course development, and/or professional development, stipend, buyout for release time, capital equipment, services and supplies, and travel. Note that fringe benefits must be paid from the account when used for stipend and/or buyout for release time. Approximately $45,000 per year is available.
The Lenore Landry Endowed Apparel Design/Manufacturing Professorship
The Lenore Landry Endowed Apparel Design/Manufacturing Professorship is designed to allow UW-Stout the ability to attract and retain high-quality apparel design faculty, as well as to provide significant leverage for the recipient to seek additional matching funds, grants, industry contracts, and recognitions to pursue research or special projects related to the apparel design and development program. Applicants for this professorship should be knowledgeable in clothing and textile design techniques, processes, and systems. Approximately $5,300 per year is available, and typically it is a three-year appointment.
